About Danapriya
I first came across Buddhism whilst studying Traditional Chinese
Medicine, my pathology teacher recommended a book "The Tibetan Book
of Living and Dying" by Sogyal Rimpoche, I read it and felt inspired.
Not long after this I went on a week long Buddhist retreat, that
was in June 1995. The teaching, the people and the whole
experience resonated deep within me. I slowly got more and
more involved with the Triratna Buddhist Community; formerly the
Friends of the Western Buddhist Order (FWBO).
In May 1996 I moved into a community at the London Buddhist Centre, where I lived and worked for the next 9 years. During this time I trained to become an ordained Buddhist within the Triratna Buddhist Order. I was ordained in June 2001 and given the name Danapriya, which means "One who loves giving".
I moved to Deal in December 2004, and spent the first 2 years meditating,
writing poetry, sitting on the beach (all seasons), learning Tai
Chi, having singing lessons and generally taking time out.
In August 2007 I started both Buddhist activities and a Traditional
Chinese Acupuncture Clinic here in Deal.
