Retreats happening elsewhere

There are retreat centres in our tradition all over the country, each offering a unique perspective on practice. The nearest centre to East Kent is Rivendell; find out what they offer and explore other centres.

Frequently asked questions

Wondering whether a retreat is for you? We’ve put together answers to help you feel welcome and confident in taking the next step.

Are retreats suitable for beginners?

Some retreats will be aimed specifically towards people who are new and some will be for those more experienced. Information on who the retreat is for will always be available. Please feel free to get in touch if you need to know more.

Where do you hold retreats?

Most of our residential retreats are held at Rivendell Retreat centre in Sussex. However, we do also often hold day retreats around Kent!

What should I bring along?

If there are any special requirements, information on what to bring will always be given out on signing up to a retreat. Otherwise just come as you are!

Do I need to be a Buddhist to attend?

Not at all! Our doors are open to everyone, no matter your background or beliefs. If you're interested in meditation, learning about Buddhist practice or simply looking for community, you're warmly invited.

Is there a fee to attend?

We try to price our retreats so that they are accessible to all, there will always be a concession rate that is available to anyone who needs it and we always have bursary places for those who can't afford the cost. We want all to feel welcome regardless of their ability to pay.

What happens on a retreat?

That depends on the retreat! There will always be longer periods of meditation, shared meals and periods of silence. Each retreat has its own flavour and information on how each will run will be available before hand.
